Here is the sharing experience from Ms. Kezang Choki Wangmo, 1st Year iMTM Student.
Volunteering in this TAR ASIA QUALIFIERS was a rewarding and enriching experience as I was able learn many skills and lesson that will benefit my personal and professional development. I learnt how to work in a team and collaborate with different people, such as other volunteers, staff, players, media, and guests. I was able to develop my communication, leadership and interpersonal skills while being a volunteer. I improved my problem solving skills while solving the problem of my team BANDUNG LEGEND team, decision making and time management skills.
Not only I was benefited with skills but I was benefited mentally too, as I got to witness how ambitious a10 year old kid can be. I witnessed their happy tears when they manage to get to the FINAL. I never thought football would mean world to some people. That moment was the happiest moment of mine too as I had been rooting for my team the whole activity day. My team Bandung Legend team was team from Indonesia. Although they were kids and couldn’t speak English well but I could feel that they were trying their best to communicate with me. Most of the time we communicated using translator but sometimes translator also created some miscommunication that led us into confusion. Not only players but the coaches and the parents of the player was also very friendly, they respected me and my decision I made for them, they didn’t complain like other teams. My team and coaches always welcomed me where we had to go and they treated me like a family, they didn’t leave me out even though I was a foreigner to them.
While helping and supporting my team I felt like we were from same country because for some reason I was rooting for their victory and happiness. Never in my life have I ever thought football would be that interesting, it was so fun to watch. It was so admirable when my team players were so organized.
While volunteering I acquired both skills and friendship. I also became fan of my team players at the same time. The volunteering was hard times but at the same time it was fun too.
