Nonthaburi, Thailand – April 4, 2025 —
Panyapiwat Institute of Management (PIM) came alive with vibrant colors and joyful celebrations as the community gathered to celebrate the Songkran Festival 2025. Students, faculty, and staff joined hands to honor Thai traditions and ring in the Thai New Year through a day filled with meaningful and festive activities.
The event opened with a revered Bathing the Buddha and elders ceremony, where participants poured fragrant water over Buddha statues and senior representatives to symbolize purification, respect, and blessings for the year ahead.
The spirit of Songkran shone brightly during the lively Mr. and Miss Songkran Competition, where participants dazzled the crowd in elegant traditional Thai costumes. A special highlight was the International College’s proud achievement: their representative won 2nd place in the Mister Songkran Competition. In a touching gesture, he donated his prize money to support the earthquake victims in Burma, exemplifying compassion and generosity that embodies the true spirit of Songkran.
Excitement continued with the mouthwatering Glass Noodle Yum (Yum Woon Sen) Competition, where teams showcased their culinary creativity, crafting delicious and colorful Thai spicy salads. The energy and aromas filled the venue as participants raced against the clock to impress the judges.
Another crowd favorite was the cheerful Build a Sand Castle Competition, where teams collaborated to construct beautiful sand pagodas and imaginative sculptures, reviving a classic Songkran tradition with a modern twist.
The 2025 Songkran Festival at PIM was a beautiful blend of tradition, creativity, and heartfelt community spirit. Through honoring customs, fostering unity, and acts of kindness, PIM once again showed its commitment to celebrating Thai heritage while inspiring a sense of global responsibility among its students.
