A policy dialogue session on the economic returns of the Phu Kradueng cable car project in Loei Province was held on 17 March 2026 at the Vayupak Convention Center, Centara Life Government Complex Hotel & Convention Centre Chaeng Watthana.
The event was primarily organized by the Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (DASTA), with City Solution Co., Ltd. and the project’s consulting team serving as co-organizers. The project consulting team was led by Assistant Professor Dr. Veerisa Chotiyaputta, who oversaw the study and presentation of key findings. The session aimed to present the results of the economic analysis and facilitate dialogue among relevant stakeholders.
During the session, the project team delivered presentations on four main topics. These included an explanation of the Economic Internal Rate of Return (EIRR), covering its definition, calculation methods, and evaluation approach; international case studies of cable car developments; an analysis of the current situation at Phu Kradueng; and the results of the economic feasibility study for the proposed cable car project.
The feasibility analysis was conducted under three development scenarios: (1) community-based economic development aligned with conservation and market mechanisms; (2) development to support sustainable nature-based tourism; and (3) community income models.
The dialogue provided a platform for exchanging perspectives and insights, contributing to a more comprehensive understanding of the project’s potential impacts in terms of economic viability, tourism development, and sustainable community outcomes.
